#001 HOW VCR BEGAN.
Why "Village"?
Filmmaking has always been a team sport. The thing about small rural villages is they all work together for the good of the community. We wanted to weave that same heart into our company.
Hi, my name is Josh Herum and this is the story of how VCR started.
I am a cinematographer and director based in St. Louis and had been an owner/op renting out my equipment for years. Investing in more and more. In 2023 my friend Cameron Ahlvers and I were chatting at his co-working space 'The Basement Alton' when we realized that we had both been planning to open a rental shop. He had his list of things he would want and I had mine.
In 2024 we officially decided to go after it. Picked out the name, started reaching out to other owner/ops in the area to build out an inventory base when we met our third partner, Chris.
Chris already had more experience in running a successful business and had a large inventory of equipment already.
With the addition of Chris we were setup for success and on Decemeber 1st 2024 we opened up shop in Alton, Illinois, servicing the St. Louis Metro area and all of USA with fast and easy shipping and competitive pricing to give more filmmakers opportunities to work with the equipment they dreamed of shooting their project on.
